English Language Proficiency Assessment for California (ELPAC)
All students in Transitional Kindergarten through 12th grade whose primary language is a language other than English are required to participate in the ELPAC. The ELPAC assessment consists of an assessment for the initial identification of students as English Learners (ELs). Once identified as an English Learner, students will participate in an annual summative assessment to measure their progress in learning English. Once a student assesses as English proficient, they will be reclassified and will no longer have to participate in ELPAC testing. Students with moderate/severe disabilities may be eligible to participate in the Alternate ELPAC Assessment.
